In order to streamline the data-capture for schools, ADAM creates unique links for each family to follow and update their details.
Is it safe to submit my information online?
You will notice that when you access the link in the e-mail, you are not asked for a password. ADAM uses the concept of "safety in numbers" to ensure that your information remains safe. Given that the numbers here are so significantly large, the chances of someone stumbling on your information either intentionally or by accident is so incredibly small, that it is safe to conclude that it is impossible.
How does ADAM keep my information safe?
ADAM will only accept a single submission from each unique link. Once the details have been updated, the link expires and a new one must be requested from the school. This is to reduce the chances of someone who is able to get access to the link from making subsequent changes to your information - or indeed, viewing it.
From a mathematical point of view, the unique link is made up of 32 random numbers and letters which means that there are a total of 1632 or 3.4 x 1038 combinations. Statistically, this means that it is impossible to simply guess a link. In addition, ADAM will only allow five incorrect attempts before enforcing a 5-minute lock out. This means that brute-force attempts to find the links will not work.
As a further security precaution, ADAM only allows links to be used that are less than 14 days old. Once 14 days have passed, the link expires and cannot be used.
What happens to my data?
When you submit your details online, ADAM will send a notification to the administrative staff at the school. They are invited to review the information to ensure that it meets certain requirements. They have the option of accepting or rejecting individual changes to the data at this point. Once the details are reviewed and accepted, they will reflect on the school database.
