From ADAM - Academic Data Management for Schools

Jump to: navigation, search

This page lists and allows users with the necessary privilege to manage the promotions results.

The screen lists the promotion results that are currently in action and those that are currently disabled. There is no way to delete old results, however, they can be "repurposed" by renaming them and changing the criteria that are applied.

Promotion results lists

Each promotion result lists the following information:

  • Description shows a "friendly" name that you can refer to the promotion result as. This is for ADAM's internal use and is not displayed on reports. Examples of names would be Condoned (Grade 8) or Promoted (Grade 10 - 12).
  • Grades lists the grades to which this promotion requirement applies. Some grades might have unique requirements, whereas others are shared between grades.
  • The Result shows the promotion result as it will appear on the report template.
  • For each promotion result, there are a number of Actions that can be performed. These are discussed below.

Promotion result ordering

The most significant part of this list is the order in which these promotion results appear. They will be evaluated in the order in which they are listed (from 1 onwards). The pupil gets the result of the first promotion result that has its criteria fulfilled.

For this reason, the "best" possible promotion results (e.g. Promoted with distinction) should be listed at the top of the list and the "worst" (e.g. Conditional transfer) should be listed below. The ordering of the promotion results can be changed using the "actions" (see below). This is to prevent a pupil who might qualify for Promoted with distinction to be first matched to a Conditional transfer.

If none of the promotion results are matched, the pupil will get a default result of Fail. To override this, create a promotion criteria set with no conditions therein and place this just above the Fail result line. The Fail result cannot be edited.

Actions

Not all actions apply to all promotion results. This is particularly true of the "positional" actions up and down which are used to change the order that the promotions results are tested.

  • Edit allows the promotion result to be changed.
  • Criteria allows you to see and edit the promotion result criteria
  • Disable will move the promotion result to the disabled list and it will not be tested against a pupil's results.
  • Up will move a promotion result up in the list.
  • Down will move the promotion result down in the list.
